Hiking has been one of the biggest parts of my life in Canada. Whenever I needed to clear my head, explore somewhere new, or just spend a few hours away from everything, I usually ended up on a trail.
 
A Day at Cypress comes from one of those hikes. I remember standing there, looking at the waterfall, the mountains, the trees, and the mist in the air, and feeling completely present. It is one of those memories that stayed with me long after the hike was over.
 
I have always loved nature. I grew up surrounded by tea gardens in India, so being outdoors has always felt familiar to me, even when the landscape itself is completely different. In Canada, hiking became a new way for me to connect with that part of myself.
 
This painting is less about recreating Cypress exactly and more about holding onto how that day felt. The rushing water, the deep blues and greens, and even the small rainbow are all part of a memory I know I will always associate with my time in this country. For me, this is not just a landscape. It is one of my core memories of being here.
