Some of my favourite memories in Canada are tied to food, trying little cafés around Vancouver, picking up desserts for friends, or sitting around a table for much longer than planned.

This painting came from that love of colourful desserts and the way food can make an ordinary afternoon feel a little more special. I wanted the tarts to feel bright and inviting, with the berries, warm custard tones, scattered spoons, and slightly messy table all becoming part of the scene.

It is a bigger, more playful still life from this collection, and very much about the simple joy of having something sweet on the table and people to share it with.
