Coconuts, Far From Home

Coconuts have always felt very familiar to me from growing up in India, so painting them while living in Vancouver felt like another small way of bringing pieces of home into my work here.

This was mainly a study of shape, texture, and all the different browns and soft whites within something that looks so simple at first. Against the cooler blue background, I wanted the coconuts to feel warm and almost sunlit.
