With Spirit of Air, the sky takes up almost as much space as the land. I wanted there to be a feeling of openness and movement, as though everything in the painting could change direction at any moment.
 
This painting represents Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius. I thought about curiosity, imagination, freedom, thought, and the constant movement of the mind while creating it. The sweeping clouds and open landscape make the world feel much less grounded than the other paintings in the series.
 
The animals travelling together through the landscape represent the personalities of the air signs. They become small spirits moving through this enormous open world, giving the painting a sense of curiosity and possibility.
