I have always been drawn to birds of prey because of how still and observant they can be, even when everything around them feels in motion. This painting captures a falcon perched quietly against a glowing sunset, with the detailed feathers and sharp expression standing against a much looser, more abstract landscape.
 
The warm yellows and browns of the sky contrast with the cool blues and greys of the bird, while the textured background makes the scene feel somewhere between a real sighting and a memory of one.
