Just One Slice

This one was honestly about how pretty desserts can be before anyone touches them. I loved the clean slices, the strawberries and blueberries, and the way all those soft whites and yellows looked against the blue table.

I also have a habit of wanting dessert and then talking myself out of it, so painting it became a pretty good compromise. I could make the cake as indulgent as I wanted without actually having to eat the whole thing.

It is simple, cheerful, and very much inspired by my love for food that looks almost too good to ruin.
