One of the things I really enjoyed about living in Vancouver was discovering all the little bakeries and cafés around the city. I have always had a sweet tooth, so stopping somewhere for a pastry or bringing dessert home quickly became part of my weekends and days out.
 
I painted these lemon tarts because I loved how colourful they were, the bright yellow filling, raspberries, little green leaves, and all those soft pastel colours around them. This piece was mostly about having fun with food, colour, and the kinds of small treats that became part of my everyday life in Canada.
