Mangoes are one of those things that instantly remind me of home. Growing up in India, mango season was such a normal part of summer, and after moving to Canada, I started noticing how certain foods can carry so much familiarity with them.
I painted this as a fun little study of mangoes and a cold mango drink, but it also became another way of bringing something very Indian into my life here in Canada. Bright, summery, and a little nostalgic, it is one of those paintings that connects the two places I now associate with home.
