This painting came from that very simple summer feeling of cutting into a cold melon on a warm day. I loved the soft greens and yellows of the fruit and wanted the whole piece to feel fresh, bright, and easy.
There is no big story behind it, just one of those everyday summer moments that feels good enough to remember. I painted it quite loosely and let the colours do most of the work, keeping that warm, familiar feeling at the centre of it.
