I have always liked flowers that look a little wild rather than perfectly arranged, and poppies have that feeling for me. Some are completely open, some are still buds, and some already look like they are starting to fold in on themselves.
I think that is why I wanted to paint them. Flowers are such a normal part of everyday life, but they also make you notice how quickly things change. You walk past the same patch a few days later and it already looks completely different.
This one became a small reminder to enjoy things while they are here, without needing them to last forever.
