I think this one came from wanting to paint something really simple and familiar. Orchids are the kind of flowers you see everywhere, but when the light hits them right, they suddenly look so delicate and almost unreal.

I kept the colours soft and a little messy because I did not want it to feel like a perfect botanical painting. It feels more like one of those quiet little scenes from my life in Vancouver, a plant by the window, morning light coming in, nothing particularly important happening. Just a nice moment you happen to notice.
