Somewhere Along the Trail

This came from one of my hikes, somewhere in the middle of being tired, slightly out of breath, and wondering how much farther I still had to go. Then the trees opened up just enough for the light to come through, and suddenly I forgot about the climb for a minute.

That is probably one of my favourite things about hiking. You go in expecting a destination or a view at the end, but some of the moments that stay with you happen quietly along the way. I painted this because I wanted to remember one of those in-between moments, not the summit, not the big view, just the forest making me stop for a second.
